Relentless downpours have triggered Buner flash floods, overflowing rivers and canals, submerging low-lying villages, destroying farmland, and compelling hundreds of families to flee toward safer ground.

Mosques issued repeated announcements urging locals to move to higher altitudes as floodwaters surged into homes and the bustling Pir Baba Bazaar, throwing the district into a state of emergency.

Deputy Commissioner Kashif Qayyum stated that an emergency alert has been declared throughout Buner. Rescue workers have been mobilized, while designated shelters and safe zones have been prepared to host displaced households.

“The water level in Batai and Qadr Nagar has reached a critical point and is gushing rapidly toward Pir Baba Khoor. Floodwater is now behind the central market and touching the main road. Rescue and evacuation missions are in full swing,” he confirmed.

He further assured that if conditions worsen, the government will arrange temporary housing for families unable to return to their residences.

Infrastructure and Agricultural Losses

The Buner flash floods severely damaged connecting roads, cutting off access to several parts of the district. Orchards and standing crops were washed away, raising concerns about prolonged economic hardships for farmers.
