Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation has initiated 16 development and beautification projects following formal approval of the initiatives by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The project valued at Rs1570.581 million, will also enhance the image of the city and upgrade infrastructure to ensure residents have a cleaner and better organized environment.
Among them, 14 projects will be completed in six months, and the other two flagship ventures will be completed in one year. The transparent E-Pad/E-Tendering process has distributed all contracts to the private builders, with no unfair competition. Only companies that are registered by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) were allowed, which was a step towards doing away with favoritism and inspections leading to quality outputs.
MCR Chief Engineer Rafaqat Gondal attested that there is work already in progress. He applauded the Punjab government in adopting the digital tendering system which enables PEC-registered contractors to place bids irrespective of where they are in the country. As recommended by NESPAK, only reputed and reliable companies have been taken into consideration in ensuring efficiency.
