Pakistan China are set to finalize 11 agreements on Wednesday to introduce advanced professional training programs in Pakistan under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The project aims to impart skills in thousands of Pakistanis in technical disciplines and vocational fields, increasing employability, and expediting CPEC Phase-II projects, as officials of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) put it.

In his recent visit to China, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that it was imperative to produce highly skilled human resource in the contemporary industries and ventures related to CPEC. He instructed Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, to oversee these initiatives preparation and implementation.

The NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmed also paid a visit to China to deliver an elaborate training roadmap. After productive negotiations, Chinese officials authorized 11 specialized programs that focused on various disciplines, including Chinese language and training of local instructors, e-commerce, drone, software development, agriculture and medical laboratory sciences.

Others are dual diplomas and degrees with Chinese universities, faculty exchange programs, nursing workshops, smart health, intelligent mining and construction engineering, artificial intelligence, agriculture and hospitality management certifications.

Authorities assured that 11 MoUs between NAVTTC and Chinese government are signed and the agreements are soon to be put into action. It is hoped that such Pakistan China programs would deliver a globally competitive workforce, providing both local CPEC projects and foreign markets with dignified employment opportunities, strengthening bilateral cooperation as a long-term growth factor.
