Legendary Pakistani director Syed Noor fell in love with Saima while shooting his blockbuster film Ghunghat. In a recent interview, Noor opened up about how unexpected casting choices not only changed the fate of the movie but also reshaped his personal life.
Casting twists that changed everything
Syed Noor revealed that the film’s original leads were supposed to be Neeli and Noman Ijaz, but both backed out before production began. Their exit paved the way for Shaan and Saima, who later delivered unforgettable performances that helped make Ghunghat a massive box office hit.
According to Noor, Noman Ijaz was first offered the male lead but stepped away due to personal reasons. Despite distributors showing reluctance and even demanding refunds when Shaan’s name was announced, Noor insisted on casting him. This decision eventually proved successful as Shaan rose to stardom after the film’s release.
How Saima became the leading lady
For the female lead, Noor had initially finalized Neeli. However, when she exited, the opportunity went to Saima, who brought grace and depth to the role. During the shoot, Noor confessed that he gradually developed deep feelings for Saima, which turned into love.
The success of Ghunghat not only elevated Shaan and Saima’s careers but also marked the beginning of a lifelong bond between the director and the actress. Noor openly admitted that it was during this time that he fell in love with Saima, leading to their eventual marriage.
