In a major step, Sindh government with the support of Sindh Insurance Company has introduced the Digital Worker Welfare Card. The new initiative was announced in Karachi by Sindh Minister for Labor and Human Resources, Shahid Abdul Salam Tafheem.
He said that the initiative will directly benefit around 3.4 million industrial workers, giving them transparent and hassle-free access to welfare services without paperwork.
According to the minister, workers will no longer need brokers or long queues to claim benefits. All facilities will now be linked directly with their CNIC. Only registered workers will qualify and the registration process has been simplified with automatic verification through NADRA and EOBI data.
Labor Secretary Rafiq Qureshi explained that under the Digital Worker Welfare Card, laborers will receive direct access to welfare benefits including death grants, marriage grants, scholarships and other support programs.
