The five-day national anti-polio drive in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) concluded successfully on Thursday, targeting over 742,000 children under the age of five across the region.

In the capital city Muzaffarabad, health teams set a target of 124,249 children for polio vaccination during the campaign. According to the State Health Department, more than 450 mobile teams, along with fixed and transit points, were deployed to ensure maximum coverage. The campaign was carried out in close coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The integrated campaign began on September 1 and continued for five consecutive days without interruption. Health authorities confirmed that AJK has remained polio-free for the past 25 years, with no reported cases of the disease in the region.

Officials of the Polio Eradication Committee appreciated the efforts of field workers, volunteers, and partner organizations who contributed to making the campaign a success. The health department reaffirmed its commitment to keeping AJK polio-free through sustained vaccination drives.
