Islamabad Traffic Police on Friday announced a special traffic diversion plan for the 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal procession in the federal capital, deploying over 400 officers and personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience.
An ITP official said the central procession will commence from Jamia Masjid Al-Raza in G-7 and conclude at Darbar Sakhi Mahmood after passing through its designated routes. He said that several diversions will remain in place during the course of the procession.
Key diversions include:
- Sitara Market to Iqbal Hall: Traffic will be diverted; commuters advised to use Service Road via Dak Khana and Fire Brigade, or Faisal Avenue.
- Iqbal Hall to Raziya Sharif Plaza: Vehicles to use Seventh Avenue as an alternative route.
- Fazal Haq Road from China Chowk to Kulsoom Plaza: Traffic will be diverted; use Jinnah Avenue instead.
- Shaheed Chowk to GPO Chowk and Abpara Chowk: Traffic redirected; GPO Chowk and Shaheed-e-Millat Road recommended.
- Abpara Chowk to Seventh Avenue Chowk via Sherwood Road: Traffic from Zero Point and Rawalpindi advised to use Seventh Avenue and Faisal Avenue.
- Chand Tara Chowk to Dhokri Chowk: Srinagar Highway will be used as a diversion; vehicles from Barah Kahu should take Srinagar Highway or Rawal Dam Chowk, while traffic from Faizabad should use Faisal Avenue.
- Motorway traffic heading to Bahara Kahu and Murree: Recommended to use Zero Point to Faizabad Murree Road.

Chief Traffic Officer Captain (retd) Hamzah Humayun directed that no parking will be allowed along the main procession routes. He appealed to citizens to plan their travel with an additional 20-minute margin to avoid inconvenience and to cooperate with police instructions.
He said citizens can obtain real-time updates and assistance from the Traffic Police Helpline 1915 and FM 92.4.
