Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has weighed in on India’s chances against Pakistan in today’s T20 World Cup clash at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.
In a recent interview, Chopra expressed confidence that India will maintain their strong record against Pakistan, having won six out of seven T20I matches against them, despite Pakistan’s recent setback against the USA.
There will be pressure on both teams. Pakistan are generally a dangerous side when they’re wounded, and that’s exactly their situation after losing to the USA. If they lose to India, their campaign will be as good as over. You’ve got to be really careful. The toss will be crucial on this New York surface, but I still feel that India should start as favorites because our team is a lot better than theirs,” Chopra said.
Chopra also highlighted Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, emphasizing his potential impact with both bat and ball.
“There will be a lot more focus on Indian bowlers as the conditions are favorable for them. Hardik Pandya could be the trump card with both the ball and the bat,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that the Men in Green had a rough start to their T20 World Cup campaign, losing to the co-hosts in a super over, while the Indian team began their journey with a win against Ireland.
