Islamabad, Apr 21, 2025: Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has officially shared exciting insights into his next big project, Sitaare Zameen Par.
RS Prasanna directs the film, which people describe as a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, though it explores a different narrative approach.
While speaking during a recent trip to China, Aamir opened up about the storyline, his new character, and what audiences can expect from this emotionally rich comedy.
Interestingly, Sitaare Zameen Par is inspired by the Spanish movie Champions, and Aamir will portray a sharp-tongued basketball coach with a troubled personality.
“The film is nearly complete,” said Aamir. “Though it carries the essence of Taare Zameen Par, this movie moves beyond. It’s centered on individuals with special needs and delves into themes of humanity, acceptance, and bonding. While the original film touched hearts and brought tears, this one will bring laughter, all while delivering a meaningful message.”
In Taare Zameen Par, Aamir played the compassionate teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh.
However, his new role is a dramatic departure. “This time, my character is called Gulshan.
He’s brash, blunt, and unapologetically rude. He argues with everyone—his wife, mother, even colleagues.
As a basketball coach, he’s tough and at times, violent. But beneath his abrasive exterior lies a man deeply struggling with his own flaws,” he explained.

Although Aamir emphasized that the story focuses on how a group of individuals with Down syndrome and autism profoundly transform Gulshan’s life.
Through their innocence, strength, and unconditional acceptance, they teach him the true meaning of kindness, empathy, and personal growth.
However, Genelia Deshmukh also stars in the film, and it is expected to bring a refreshing blend of humor, drama, and social awareness to Indian cinema.
With its compelling storyline, strong performances, and heartfelt message, Sitaare Zameen Par is set to strike a chord with audiences across all ages.
