The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its monthly climate summary for August 2025, highlighting slightly above-normal rainfall and higher-than-average temperatures across the country.

According to the report, Pakistan received 82.5 millimeters of rain, which was 1.1% above normal, while the national mean temperature stood at 30.44°C, higher than the long-term average. Daytime temperatures averaged 36.17°C, and nighttime averages were recorded at 25.06°C.

The hottest day was observed in Dadu on August 8, with the mercury hitting 45.6°C, while Skardu recorded the coldest day at 17.5°C on August 3. The coldest night occurred in Bagrot (10.5°C), whereas Gilgit witnessed the warmest night at 27.5°C.

Sahiwal experienced record-breaking rainfall, with 340.5 millimeters in a single day on August 27 and the highest monthly total of 750.8 millimeters.

The PMD added that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal dominated August, with a strong spell affecting Sindh and Balochistan, while northwestern Balochistan also received continuous rains due to a persistent low-pressure system.
