Islamabad, 16 April 2025: A team from Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a surprise raid on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) headquarters in Mirpur.
The raid was part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the country’s cricket administration.
According to local media, a special three-member team arrived at the BCB offices around midday.
They came to examine documents linked to corruption allegations, particularly in relation to team selections and financial dealings across domestic tournaments.
Officials from the ACC revealed that the primary focus of their visit was the selection process for the 2023 Third Division Qualifying round.

Concerns had reportedly been raised about inconsistencies in team registration fees.
In past years, the application fee was fixed at Tk 5 lakh, attracting only a few applicants. However, after the fee was reduced to Tk 1 lakh, the number of applications surged to 60 teams.
The ACC is now reviewing documentation to determine whether any irregularities or unlawful practices occurred during the selection process.
In addition to team selection, the ACC is also looking into financial discrepancies related to ticket sales from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
It was noted that from seasons three to ten, the BCB reported a total revenue of Tk 15 crore from ticket sales, despite tickets being sold through third-party vendors.

However, when the board took over direct ticket sales for the 11th season, reported revenue was close to Tk 13 crore—nearly matching eight previous seasons combined.
This stark contrast has raised questions about revenue transparency in previous years.
While the ACC has not yet levelled formal charges, officials confirmed that all collected documents will be reviewed in detail.
This is part of a broader investigation into corruption and governance issues within Bangladesh cricket.
The raid marks a significant development in cricket oversight in the country.
Public scrutiny is intensifying over the management and financial operations of one of Bangladesh’s most powerful sporting institutions.
