Islamabad, 15 April 2025: Adam Zampa has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season due to a recurrence of a shoulder injury.
Zampa, who represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has returned to Australia for further assessment.
The 32-year-old featured in SRH’s opening two matches, appearing as an Impact Substitute.
He picked up one wicket in each game, returning figures of 1 for 48 and 1 for 46 in high-scoring contests.
One of those matches featured a combined total of 528 runs between SRH and Rajasthan Royals.

However, Zampa reportedly began feeling discomfort in his bowling shoulder shortly afterward, which ruled him out of the team’s next four matches.
Medical evaluations suggested the issue was linked to a prior shoulder problem he had faced ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Though there was initial hope of a brief rest leading to his return later in the tournament, SRH have now opted to move forward with a replacement.
Karnataka’s 21-year-old left-handed batter, R. Smaran, has been drafted into the squad at his base price of INR 30 lakh.
Smaran brings solid domestic credentials to the table. In seven first-class matches, he has scored over 500 runs at an average exceeding 64, including a double century against Punjab.

His List A record is equally impressive, with 433 runs from 10 games at an average of 72.16, including two centuries.
In the shortest format, he has tallied 170 runs from six T20s at a striking rate of 170.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have signed Mumbai batter Mhatre for the same price.
Zampa is not expected to return to action before Australia’s T20I series against the West Indies in July, to be held in the Caribbean.
He remains central to Australia’s build-up to the T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka next year, with 19 T20Is lined up as part of the preparation.
