Islamabad, May 25, 2025: Renowned Indian-based singer Adnan Sami is once again making waves on social media, this time for flaunting custom-made in-ear monitors adorned with the Indian flag.
The Pakistani-origin artist, who renounced his Pakistani citizenship in 2016, has drawn a fresh wave of online debate, reigniting the long-standing divide over his national allegiance.
In a recent Instagram post, Adnan Sami unveiled a pair of personalized in-ear monitors created by a U.S. audio tech company, tailored exclusively for his live concerts. “This is my second pair, and they sound phenomenal. I had the Indian flag design printed on them at my request,” he wrote, proudly showcasing his patriotic-themed accessory.
The post quickly polarized opinions. Indian fans celebrated the gesture, viewing it as a bold expression of national pride. However, the reaction across the border in Pakistan was far less enthusiastic.
Social media users in Pakistan labeled the act as another publicity stunt designed to reaffirm his loyalty to India. Critics argue that Sami’s constant emphasis on his Indian identity often feels exaggerated and calculated.
Many point out that this isn’t the first time Sami has stirred headlines for similar reasons. From speaking in favor of Indian policy positions during India-Pakistan tensions to making overt nationalistic statements, the singer has repeatedly positioned himself in India’s favor—leading many Pakistanis to question his motivations. Is it genuine patriotism, or a strategic move to remain relevant in India’s entertainment industry?

Despite the backlash, it’s undeniable that Sami continues to command attention. Once celebrated across the subcontinent for chart-toppers like “Lift Kara De” and “Kabhi To Nazar Milao”, his musical journey now intertwines with sharp political overtones.
His evolution from a beloved Pakistani artist to a controversial Indian celebrity showcases the delicate intersection of art, identity, and nationalism.
