While defending a total of 325 runs, Afghanistan restricted the strong England team to 317, despite a brilliant hundred from Joe Root.
Right-arm fast bowler Azmatullah Omarzai took five wickets for 58 runs, while experienced spinner Mohammad Nabi took two wickets.
While batting first, Afghanistan put up a mammoth total of 325 runs, thanks to a match-winning century from opening batter Ibrahim Zadran.
Zadran received equal support from Hashmatullah Shahidi, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mohammad Nabi, who scored 40, 41, and 40 respectively.
Ibrahim Zadran was declared Man of the Match for his fantastic knock of 177 runs off 146 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes.
The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side will now face Australia in their last group stage game on February 28 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
England, on the other hand, are out of the Champions Trophy 2025 after losing both of their games against Australia and Afghanistan.
