Islamabad, July 15, 2025: South Africa’s Aiden Markram has been crowned the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2025, after a match-winning performance in the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord’s.
Markram outshone fellow nominees Kagiso Rabada and Pathum Nissanka to clinch the monthly honor. The 30-year-old opener delivered a standout performance, helping South Africa win their first senior ICC title in 27 years.
Despite falling for a duck in the first innings, Markram returned with a composed and brilliant 136 in the tense fourth innings, guiding his side to a memorable victory while chasing 282.
His gritty partnerships with Wiaan Mulder and Temba Bavuma, especially after the early dismissal of Ryan Rickelton, anchored the innings. When Bavuma suffered an injury scare, Markram stood firm, maintaining composure under pressure.
Earlier in the match, he made a game-changing contribution with the ball. His sixth delivery broke Australia’s strong partnership by removing Steve Smith, and he later dismissed Josh Hazlewood to end the Australian innings.
