Islamabad, Feb 25: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has officially launched a digital print production facility, marking a significant step towards modernizing the university’s educational resources. The inauguration ceremony was held on Monday, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood leading the event. The newly inaugurated facility, which also includes an extension to the existing print production capabilities, will digitize the examination, printing, and mailing of books, with support from the Pakistan Post Foundation.

During the ceremony, Professor Dr. Mahmood highlighted that the initiative is a revolutionary move aimed at ensuring greater transparency in the examination system and improving the efficiency of book printing and distribution. He emphasized that the introduction of modern machinery will expedite the delivery of educational materials to students, ensuring that they receive their resources on time.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated that AIOU’s main objective is to provide students with high-quality educational materials that enhance the learning experience. By offering state-of-the-art facilities, the university aims to help students achieve better academic results.

Abdur Razzaq, Managing Director of the Pakistan Post Foundation, attended the ceremony, while Dr. Sarmad Iqbal, Print Manager at AIOU, briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the various stages involved in the process, including machinery design, plate-making, printing, and binding.

One of the key benefits of the new system is the digitized examination process, which will significantly improve the speed, accuracy, and transparency of results processing. The use of barcodes and serial numbers on exam sheets, along with machine learning software, will streamline tasks that once took days, now being completed in minutes. Additionally, the automated preparation and verification of results will enhance security, reduce the chances of cheating, and modernize the examination process overall.
