Islamabad, Jan 5: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), under its mission to provide education to underprivileged regions, has announced that it will offer free matriculation education to children residing in Balochistan, Ex-FATA, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood shared the details of the initiative on Sunday, emphasizing that the move aims to uplift these remote and neglected areas by making education more accessible.
The AIOU has opened admissions for the Spring 2025 semester for a range of programs, from matric to PhD, and children in these areas can avail themselves of free education by contacting the university’s regional campuses located in their respective regions. This initiative is part of the university’s broader efforts to strengthen its educational network and provide facilities to children in the most underserved areas, ensuring they have access to quality education comparable to that in urban areas.
Dr. Nasir Mahmood highlighted the importance of making education accessible in remote areas and reiterated the university’s commitment to fulfilling its educational mission to serve underprivileged communities. The program will empower children from Balochistan, Ex-FATA, and GB to gain education and skills that will ultimately contribute to their personal growth and the socio-economic development of their regions.
