Islamabad, April 09: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with a high-level delegation from the global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal at the Finance Division today to discuss potential collaboration in Pakistan’s privatization initiatives and the formation of a sovereign wealth fund.

The delegation was led by Mr. Peter Briggs, Division Executive, accompanied by Mr. Abdalla ElEbiary, Managing Director, and Mr. Reza Baqir, Global Head of Sovereign Advisory.

The meeting marks a significant step in the ongoing engagement between Pakistan and Alvarez & Marsal as the country seeks to accelerate economic reforms and attract foreign investment.

Mr. Briggs reiterated Alvarez & Marsal’s strong interest in Pakistan, citing the firm’s commitment to long-term investment in emerging markets.

He disclosed plans to potentially establish a local office in Pakistan to support the government’s privatization agenda and facilitate global investor participation.

He underscored that Pakistan’s growing market presents compelling opportunities for investment and sustainable development.

Senator Aurangzeb welcomed the delegation and acknowledged Alvarez & Marsal’s global expertise in privatization and sovereign advisory services.

He appreciated the firm’s willingness to contribute to Pakistan’s economic transformation, especially in the context of privatizing power distribution companies, where the government has already listed 24 state-owned enterprises for privatization.

The Finance Minister highlighted the macroeconomic stabilization achieved over the past 14 months, which has reinvigorated investor confidence.

He cited recent developments, including AP Moller Maersk’s commitment to major investments in the maritime sector, as a testament to Pakistan’s improving business climate.

Local entrepreneurs and investors are also showing renewed optimism, further indicating positive economic momentum.
