Islamabad, Nov 9: Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh Emphasizes Pakistan’s Key Priorities to Strengthen Cooperation with the US. Pakistan’s current Ambassador to the U.S. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also underlined the need to advance the relations of both countries through mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and investment, education and health, science and technology as well as climate change initiatives.
During a recent visit to the University of California, Berkeley he urged the Pakistani American community to play more active role in enhancing bilateral relations. The Ambassador appreciated the community’s culinary activities involving the American institutions, policy makers, and businesses, which enhance bilateral relations and people-to-people relations considerably.
Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh took the opportunity expounded on the historical development of the strategic partnership and noted its developing emphasis on the economic and cultural spheres. He insisted that Pakistani American are bisected rooted in both the country that strengthens amicable relations. From technology to healthcare and from business to other sectors, they have been helping to move the agenda of both Pakistan and the United States forward.
Addressing Pakistan’s history of acting as a mediator between the US and China, he said that now the new aim of Pakistan is to act as an economic partner and a link connecting two such strong economic power houses. During the talks with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce the parties declared their interest in development of the spheres of cooperation in investment, innovative development as well as in the sphere of business relations between the companies.
Agreeing with the argument of Friends of Pakistan held in San Jose that Pakistan has a great competitive advantage in human resource and service sectors; the Ambassador called on the Pakistani Americans to forge closer economic ties. He also stressed the current on-going embassy activities in the area of culture, education and Politics between the two countries. Following this logic, the role of the Pakistani American community still remains at the forefront for promoting bilateral Pakistan US relations and bringing common benefits.
