Islamabad, Oct 11: The AMD unveils new AI is expecting to roll out the production of its next MI325X Artificial Intelligence processing unit in the third quarter of 2022.
The MI325X is actually an advance model of AMD’s already existing MI250X AI chip. The MI325X and other AMD AI chips exist in a market own by Nvidia and are aimed at challenging Nvidia in the market for AI accelerators used in data centers and supercomputers.
Currently, there is a very high level of application demand for artificial intelligence chips from top technology companies such as Microsoft, Meta, etc.
But demand is limited, and this is where problems arise, so AMD is trying to increase the production. Incorporating more chips like the MI325X is crucial for AMD since it provides the means of meeting consumer demand in the rapidly growing AI accelerator market.
Built with its new MI325X chip, AMD wants to present consumers with a powerful high-performance and power-efficient solution for AI computations that rivals Nvidia’s superiority.
AMD unveils new AI its further development of the MI200 series of chips, called MI325X AI chip, which fits into the demand for data center/AI accelerator market that Nvidia currently occupies, and AMD aims to start manufacturing this brand-new chip on a large scale in the third quarter.
AMD will manufacture the chip, which is designed to challenge Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture for AI applications.
It builds on the same basic structure as one of AMD’s current chips for AI, the MI300X, but has a new kind of memory that AMD claims will help calculations for AI run faster.
The MI325X is intended to be shipped in products from firms such as Super Micro Computer beginning in the first quarter of the year 2025.
This makes AMD to continue to offer into the market of AI chip in equal measure with competitors such as Nvidia.
Larger capacity and enhanced working efficiency may also make MI325X interesting to firms that operate AI processes.
