Islamabad, 28 April 2025: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) continues to showcase exciting cricket, often featuring intense moments between players, just like its Indian counterpart, the Indian Premier League (IPL).
On Sunday, during a match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, one such moment came when fast bowler Mohammad Amir faced off against Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam.
Amir delivered a challenging over to Babar, testing his composure with every ball. The first delivery was a bouncer that struck Babar’s helmet, forcing him to undergo a concussion test.

However, the batter’s struggles continued as Amir’s next delivery hit him on the pads, resulting in an LBW dismissal. The umpire raised the finger quickly, sending Babar back to the pavilion.
Amir’s celebration after the wicket was full of emotion. He rushed towards the Gladiators’ dugout, where mentor Viv Richards was present, and gestured in celebration.
However, the West Indies legend advised Amir to calm down and stay focused on the game.

Amir finished with figures of 1/18, but it was his teammate Faheem Ashraf who stole the show, taking 5 wickets for just 33 runs. This helped the Gladiators secure a dominant 64-run victory over Zalmi.
Despite his efforts, Babar Azam, with 117 runs, has yet to break into the top 10 list of highest run-scorers in PSL 2025, while Amir stands at 12th place with 7 wickets.
As for their respective teams, Zalmi is struggling in fourth place, with two wins from six matches, while Gladiators are performing slightly better in third.
Viv Richards, however, expressed confidence in Babar Azam’s ability to bounce back, calling him a “king” of cricket and assuring fans that he would soon return to his best form.
