Amreli Steels Limited (PSX: ASTL) has decided to prolong the shutdown of its SITE Rolling Mill (SRM) in Karachi, which accounts for around 30% of the company’s total production capacity, amid ongoing economic pressures.
In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday, the company stated that its Board of Directors reviewed the situation in a meeting held on October 29, 2025, and concluded that the economic conditions that led to the mill’s initial suspension remain unchanged.
As a result, the board has approved extending the halt in operations for another six months. The company noted that the reopening of the facility will be contingent upon a significant improvement in the overall economic environment.
