Islamabad, Feb 13: Apple has launched a new health study aimed at exploring the connections between physical and mental health, as well as overall well-being, leveraging data from its devices. The study, available through the Apple Research app for eligible U.S. participants, will examine how various health factors, including heart rate, sleep patterns, and mental health, interact with each other. This initiative, conducted in partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital an affiliate of Harvard Medical School will monitor long-term health trends through the data collected from Apple devices.
The new study builds on Apple’s previous research initiatives, such as the Apple Women’s Health Study, Apple Hearing Study, and Apple Heart and Movement Study, which together enrolled over 350,000 participants. In this latest longitudinal study, the focus will be on several critical health areas, including cardiovascular health, mental well-being, metabolic health, respiratory patterns, and menstrual and neurological health.

Apple’s goal is to explore how early detection of health changes, both physical and emotional, could lead to more proactive healthcare. With the help of device data, the research will aim to identify early warning signs of various health conditions, potentially improving preventive care. For example, early signs of hearing loss could indicate an increased risk of cognitive decline, while changes in mobility could signal the development of other health issues.
By analyzing these subtle health indicators, Apple hopes to contribute to the future of personalized healthcare and offer insights that could reduce the risks associated with chronic illnesses and cognitive conditions. The study is now open for eligible participants in the U.S. who meet the minimum age requirements.
