Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: Apple might soon expand its MacBook lineup with a budget-friendly MacBook—a major shift for a brand known for premium pricing. According to recent leaks, alongside its high-end OLED MacBook models, the company could introduce a new entry-level version that’s closer in price to its iPads than its current laptops.

Rumors point to a 12.9-inch MacBook that may become the first in the series to feature the same A18 Pro chip found in the iPhone 16 Pro. By using a mobile chip instead of the usual M-series processor, Apple could significantly cut production costs while maintaining solid day-to-day performance for casual users.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has hinted at this more affordable MacBook since June, and DigiTimes now suggests it could be priced between $599 and $699, undercutting the existing $999 MacBook Air. Apple is expected to reduce costs through a slightly smaller display (12.9 inches instead of 13.6) and simpler hardware—meaning fewer CPU cores, less memory, no Thunderbolt support, and only USB-C connectivity.

While this might limit advanced capabilities like multi-monitor setups, it would appeal to students, light users, and those seeking Apple design at a lower price point. Production is rumored to start later this year, with a launch expected in 2026, and color options including Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow.
