Archer’s Nightmare Spell Breaks IPL Record as SRH Dominate

Islamabad, 23 March 2025: Jofra Archer had a day to forget in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). 

The right-arm fast bowler conceded 76 runs in his four-over spell—the most expensive in the history of the money rich franchise tournament.

The previous record belonged to Mohit Sharma from Gujarat Titans, who had conceded 73 runs in IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals.

Archer struggled as SRH batters targeted him from the start. Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen launched an aggressive assault, hammering boundaries with ease.

The economy rate of Rajasthan Royals pacer soared to 19.00, as he found no respite across his four-over spell.

By the end of 18 overs, SRH had raced to 256/3, with Kishan leading the charge with an unbeaten 86 off 42 balls.

Klaasen, known for his power-hitting, added a quickfire 32 off 12 balls, ensuring there was no escape for the Rajasthan Royals.

The expensive spell from Archer now tops the list of costliest bowling performances in IPL history, surpassing the previous unwanted record set by Mohit Sharma.
