Islamabad, May 31, 2025: Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem has brought glory to the nation once again, securing a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships with a stunning final throw of 86.40 metres. Nadeem’s gold is Pakistan’s first and only medal at the championship.
India’s Sachin Yadav secured the silver medal with 85.16 meters throw, while Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama won the bronze with 83.75 meters. Pakistan’s Yasir Muhammad ended in eighth place with a throw of 75.39 meters.

Arshad Nadeem who made history at Paris Olympics by setting a record 92.97 meters throw, came close to beating the championship benchmark of 86.72 meters but ultimately fell just short.
After a slow start with throws measuring 75.64 meters and 76.80 meters, he moved up the chart with an 85.57-meter throw on his third attempt. He maintained strong throws thereafter and sealed victory with an impressive final throw.

The atmosphere was electric as Nadeem celebrated his win by offering a sajda, with Pakistani supporters waving flags and chanting “Dil Dil Pakistan.” This win marked his return to international competition since the Paris Olympics last year.

In the qualifying round held yesterday, Nadeem threw 86.34 meters in his single attempt to comfortably reach the final. Yasir’s qualifying throw was 76.07 meters. After qualifying, Nadeem took to social media to ask for continued support and prayers from his fans.
Nadeem has plans to head to England soon to prepare for the World Athletics Championships scheduled for September.
