Ashura, observed on 9th and 10th Muharram, commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala, and holds great religious significance for the Muslim community, particularly for the Shia sect.

The Cabinet Division has circulated the notification to all major ministries, divisions, intelligence agencies, provincial governments, police departments, and judiciary offices. It also instructed the press and electronic media for wide publicity.

This move allows citizens across Pakistan to take part in religious rituals, mourning processions, and prayers during one of the most important periods in the Islamic calendar.
