In a remarkable feat of engineering, Asia’s inaugural cylindrical Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility has been completed, boasting an impressive operational capability at sea for a staggering 15 years without requiring docking.
Located in east China’s Qingdao City, this groundbreaking achievement represents a significant milestone in the country’s advanced offshore oil and natural gas exploration endeavors.
Dubbed “Haikui No.1,” the monumental structure was entirely conceptualized and constructed in China. Comprised of a staggering 600,000 individual parts, the FPSO features intricately integrated functional modules on both its hull and deck.
With dimensions reaching approximately 90 meters in diameter and exceeding 60 meters in height, the facility is engineered with a maximum displacement of 100,000 tonnes and a storage capacity of 60,000 tonnes of oil. Its completion marks a leap forward in offshore engineering capabilities, setting new standards for efficiency and longevity in marine operations.
