Assistant Commissioner Pattoki Furqan Ahmed Khan, who lost his life during flood relief operations in Punjab, will be honored with a top civil award. The Punjab government has also approved a financial grant of Rs. 10 million for his family.
According to officials, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved both the civil award and the grant as recognition of his services. Despite being a cancer patient, Furqan Ahmed Khan continued to serve flood victims for four consecutive days, distributing food, medicines and essential supplies in the affected areas of Pattoki.
He passed away yesterday, on Sunday after suffering a heart attack while on duty in the flood-hit zone. His commitment to duty and dedication to the people earned wide respect.

Paying tribute, CM Maryam Nawaz said that Furqan Ahmed was a “real hero” who sacrificed his life while helping citizens in one of the toughest times. She added that his name will be remembered for his service and sense of responsibility.
The late Assistant Commissioner remained actively engaged in rescue and relief operations ensuring that basic necessities reached the affected communities. His efforts have been praised as an example of courage and public service.
