Islamabad, Oct 23: Aurangzeb Calls on IMF to Prioritize Climate Resilience Financing. Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Finance Minister, was present at the IMF’s meeting with the MENAP region’s finance ministers, central bank governors, and heads of regional financial institutions.
He underlined in his intervention that the IMF must incorporate social protection measures into its lending regimes. In order to assist vulnerable countries, the finance minister asked the Fund to maintain growing debt relief and concessional financing channels while concentrating on improving climate resilience financing.
He praised the assessment of the Low-Income Countries Debt Sustainability Framework (LIC-DSF) for taking into account new issues such domestic public debt, climate-related risks, and complicated debt restructuring scenarios.
