Islamabad, July 23, 2025: Inglis and Green powered Australia to an 8-wicket win over West Indies in the 2nd T20I, showing emotional farewell for Russell in Kingston.
Australia delivered a sharp all-round performance to defeat West Indies by eight wickets in the second T20I at Sabina Park on Tuesday night, taking a strong 2–0 lead in the five match series. Hunting down 173 for victory, the Australian batting lineup made routine victory of the target, coasting 173/2 in just 15.2 overs. The win was led by unscathed partnership between Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, who combined for a 131-run stand off just 57 balls.

Inglis was the star of the show, hammering an unbeaten 78 off just 33 deliveries while Green matched his partner with 56 off 32 deliveries, presenting effortless stroke play and power-hitting that left the West Indian bowlers stunned. Together, the duo smashed 9 sixes, decimating the Caribbean attack in front of a stunned home crowd.
Earlier, West Indies posted 172/8 after electing to bat first. Opener Brandon King top-scored with 44, but the innings never fully gained control. The hosts hoped for a grand finale from veteran all-rounder. Russell delivered a fiery cameo, a 36-run knock off just 15 balls, including a monstrous six that shattered a section of the sight screen, a fitting parting image for the T20 legend.

However, Russell’s farewell was outshone by Australia’s ruthless chase. Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa were among the most frugal bowlers for Australia, tying down the Windies middle overs and ensuring a manageable chase. With this win, Australia not only secured a strong grip on the series but also reaffirmed their dominance after a 3–0 Test series whitewash earlier this month.
The third T20I is scheduled for July 25 at Warner Park, Basseterre, where West Indies must win to stay alive in the series.
