Karachi 12July: Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi chaired a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the plans for evacuating hazardous and decaying structures in the city, on July 12.
Details indicate that district South is home to the majority of the 450 unsafe and decaying buildings, according to a briefing from a Sindh Building Control Authority official. Syed Ghulam Mehdi, Deputy Commissioner South Altaf Sario, Additional Commissioner Karachi-I, and other officials attended the meeting.
All endangered buildings have notices requiring their evacuation, it was disclosed during the meeting.Forty buildings were listed in detail as being extremely dangerous and requiring an immediate evacuation. In order to protect the safety of the occupants, it was decided that the Deputy Commissioner South would call meetings with KE and SSGC and quickly cut off utility services to these buildings.
