Islamabad, June 9, 2025: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced that the government will prioritize debt management in the upcoming fiscal year to strengthen economic stability. Speaking on various sectors of the economy, the finance minister shared key insights into national performance indicators.

He revealed that the construction sector recorded a growth of 6.6%, reflecting a positive trend in development and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the automobile industry saw a sharp increase of 40%, signaling a rebound in manufacturing and consumer demand in the sector.

On the other hand, the large-scale manufacturing (LSM) sector experienced a decline, highlighting ongoing challenges in industrial productivity. The services sector grew by 2.9%, with food services specifically increasing by 2.1%.

In agriculture, there was a modest growth of 0.6%, but the output of major crops fell by 13.5%. Minister Aurangzeb emphasized that improvement has been noted in those crop areas where government intervention was reduced, indicating better results with market-driven mechanisms.

He also pointed out significant governance reforms, announcing the planned dissolution of PASSCO, the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation, describing it as a “hub of corruption” that is no longer sustainable under the current administration.

These statements reflect the government’s resolve to enhance fiscal discipline, streamline public sector institutions, and create a conducive environment for economic recovery.
