At least one passenger was killed and several others sustained injuries when four bogies of the Awam Express, en route from Lahore to Karachi, derailed near Lodhran Railway Station in the early hours of Sunday.
According to initial reports, the accident was triggered by a brake failure, which caused the train to lose control and derail.
A railway official confirmed that four bogies went off track, resulting in the immediate death of one passenger, while several others were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
The official further stated that a formal investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the brake malfunction and to determine whether any negligence was involved.

Rescue teams and railway staff reached the site soon after the incident to assist passengers and restore operations.
The derailment has once again raised questions about railway safety standards and maintenance protocols across the country.
