Islamabad, Mar 13, 2025: Rohit Sharma has closed the gap on Babar Azam in the latest ICC ODI rankings after his standout performance in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Sharma, named Player of the Match in the final against New Zealand, jumped to third in the rankings following a vital knock of 76 runs, leading India in the chase against the Black Caps.
Despite the rise of the right-hander, Indian opener Shubman Gill continues to dominate at the top of the rankings, thanks to his consistent performances in the eight-team tournament.
However, fellow Indian star and former captain Virat Kohli saw a slight decline, falling to fifth place despite scoring 218 runs in the recently concluded marquee tournament.
New Zealand players also made impressive strides in the ICC ODI rankings following their runner-up finish and outstanding performances in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Top all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, named Player of the Tournament, made the most significant gain, soaring 14 spots in the ODI batting rankings.
His teammates Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips also saw improvements, with Mitchell climbing six places to sixth and Phillips moving up to 24th.
For Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan retained their 19th and 21st positions, while Imam-ul-Haq slipped to 31st. Saim Ayub, however, made progress, climbing to 36th.
In the bowling rankings, New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner made notable progress, jumping six places to second after his impressive performances with the ball.
Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana held on to his top spot, while New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell also rose 10 spots to 18th.
