Amid growing criticism over his son Babar Azam’s recent performances, Azam Siddique, the cricketer’s father, has stepped up to offer support.
The former Pakistan captain has been facing intense scrutiny from fans and pundits alike due to a series of underwhelming performances, particularly after disappointing Champions Trophy campaign.
Babar was notably omitted from Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, a move that has been met with strong disapproval from his father.
Taking to Instagram, Azam Siddique expressed unwavering confidence in his son’s ability to bounce back, saying that despite being named in the ICC T20I Team of the Year, Babar’s drop was not a setback.

He expressed optimism, adding that Babar would prove himself in the National T20 and PSL.
However, the 30-year-old’s struggles have sparked harsh remarks from former cricketers, including Shoaib Akhtar, who called Babar a “fraud,” and Mohammad Hafeez, who doubted his ability to perform in tough overseas conditions.
In response, Azam Siddique urged critics to choose their words carefully, stating that the past players’ comments were unwise.
Despite recent setbacks, including a lackluster performance in the recent tri-nation series, Babar’s father remains hopeful that his son will regain form, as Pakistan heads into a busy international schedule with a T20I series against New Zealand starting March 16.
