Rail transport services in Balochistan were restored on Wednesday after a suspension of two days due to torrential rains and flash floods. On this, spokesperson of Pakistan Railways mentioned that the Jaffer Express left Quetta towards Peshawar today and the incoming Jaffer Express was arriving in Quetta this evening. The Bolan Mail that left Karachi is also likely to arrive at Quetta tomorrow.
The suspension hit several routes in the province because of the damage of the infrastructure caused by the torrential downpours. Teams of Pakistan Railways repaired tracks day and night to resume normal service. It was recommended that passengers should lean on new schedules and put safety rules into consideration before boarding.
As National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) noted, flooding and rains throughout the country since June 26 have caused at least 802 deaths and over 1,088 injuries. There are emergency response teams that have been conducting rescue and relief efforts in the most affected zones in support of people.
