In a significant move to strengthen Pakistan Bangladesh relations, PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with Bangladesh Adviser on Religious Affairs, Dr. Khaled Hossain.
The meeting was also attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner MD Iqbal Hossain Khan. During the meeting, Bangladesh announced 500 new scholarships for Pakistani students.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed that the love of Bangladeshi brothers remains alive in the hearts of the Pakistani people. He added that MM Alam is still remembered as a national hero in Pakistan and said now is the best time to further strengthen bilateral ties. Sharif also praised Bangladesh’s rapid economic growth and development.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted Bangladesh achievements in garments, microfinance and women’s participation. She said, “The relationship between Pakistan and Bangladesh goes beyond borders and is built on generations of brotherhood. Trade and direct exchanges will further strengthen people-to-people ties.” She also mentioned Punjab’s interest in cooperating with Bangladesh in green energy, flood management, and agricultural sustainability.

Bangladesh High Commissioner MD Iqbal Hossain Khan stated that the people of Bangladesh consider Muhammad Nawaz Sharif a hero for his role in the country nuclear development. “He still holds a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshi citizens, and the younger generation respects him greatly,” he said.
Dr. Khaled Hossain, Bangladesh Minister of Religious Affairs, praised the services of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his family for Pakistan people and said Bangladesh is keen to improve relations at all levels. He also appreciated the public service and leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
