Islamabad, 24 March 2025: Tamim Iqbal suffered a massive heart attack on Monday morning while playing in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
The Former Bangladesh captain was immediately taken to a hospital in Savar, near Dhaka, where he is currently under medical care.
The veteran cricketer was representing Mohammedan Sporting Club in a match against Shinepukur Cricket Club when he began experiencing chest discomfort.
Initially, plans were made to airlift him to Dhaka for treatment, but logistical challenges prevented the transfer.
Instead, he was rushed to Fazilatunnesa Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had suffered a severe cardiac episode.
BCB chief physician, Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, stated that Tamim initially underwent medical tests at a local hospital, which suggested minor heart complications.
However, his condition deteriorated while being transported to the helipad, forcing his immediate return to the hospital. Further tests later confirmed a serious heart attack.
Chowdhury mentioned that the medical team is closely monitoring his condition and doing everything possible for his recovery.
He added that it is a challenging moment for everyone associated with Bangladesh cricket, as Tamim has been a key figure in the national team for over a decade.
The incident took place during the first innings of the 50-over match, shortly after the toss. His family members were informed and are on their way to the hospital in Savar.
Tamim, one of Bangladesh’s most successful batters, has been an integral part of the team’s cricketing journey.
His health scare has raised concerns among fans and the cricketing community, with many hoping for his swift recovery.
