Islamabad, 23 May 2025: BAW Bumby EV has made its debut in Pakistan’s automotive market, stepping into the competition against the widely recognized Suzuki Cultus VXL.
As the country gradually embraces electric mobility, comparisons between traditional petrol-powered vehicles and electric alternatives are growing sharper. This report explores how these two hatchbacks measure up in size, performance, and features.
Dimensions and Seating
The BAW Bumby EV stands at 3,532 mm in length, 1,498 mm in width, and 1,605 mm in height. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,275 mm and provides seating for four occupants. With a curb weight of 830 kg, it’s designed for nimble city travel.

In contrast, the Cultus VXL offers slightly more interior space with its 3,600 mm length and 1,600 mm width. Its longer 2,425 mm wheelbase supports seating for five. While it weighs a lighter 795 kg, it also includes 254 liters of luggage capacity and 145 mm ground clearance.
Engine vs Motor
The BAW Bumby EV runs on a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, producing 15 kW of rated power and peaking at 25 kW. Its maximum speed reaches 100 km/h, with a declared range of up to 172 km on a single charge.
Power is directed to the rear wheels through a single-speed automatic gearbox and supported by a 15.12 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery.
Meanwhile, the Cultus VXL features a 998 cc petrol engine delivering 67 hp at 6,000 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission pairs with a front-wheel-drive setup, and the vehicle is said to average 16–18 km per liter of fuel. Its top practical speed lies between 130–140 km/h.
Suspension, Braking & Features
Both cars come with McPherson strut front suspensions and rear drum brakes. The BAW Bumby EV uses a three-link non-independent rear suspension, while the Cultus opts for a torsion beam. The Bumby has 155/65 R13 tires, slightly smaller than the Cultus’s 165/65 R14.
Feature-wise, the BAW Bumby EV includes essentials like electric windows, keyless entry, parking sensors, and tire pressure monitoring.

The Cultus VXL provides extra comfort with power steering, ABS, dual airbags, air conditioning, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
Pricing and Verdict
With a listed price of Rs. 3,800,000, the BAW Bumby EV is notably more affordable than the Cultus VXL, which stands at Rs. 4,316,000. While BAW Bumby EV appeals to cost-conscious, urban commuters with its electric range and lower price tag, the Cultus still leads in performance and interior space.
