As the clock ticks down before the power-packed Pakistan and India face off in the 2025 Asia Cup, ex-Pakistan cricketer Bazid Khan has hit a spot on weak point India has had over the years against the Men in Green: its captain Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar has not had a good record against Pakistan and Bazid notes this by explaining that despite his dominance in the T20 condensed version of the game, he has not done well against Pakistan.
Whereas Suryakumar has a decent record against the rest of the teams, he has failed to kickstart against Pakistan, both against the pacers and the slow bowlers. Bazid is correct in his observation as supported statistically. He had played five matches against Pakistan in 2021-2024 that yielded 64 runs with an average of 12.80 and strike rate of 118.51.
His career averages, in contrast, include 34.13 and 146.21 strike rate. The figures show that once again Pakistan may be able to make the most of this with the bowlers especially the pace bowlers. He has been dismissed by the likes of Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Hasan Ali in past matches, something consistent.

At 34, Suryakumar now has the onus of captaining India in a multi-nation tournament, the Asia Cup. In the case of Pakistani fans, all the hopes rest with their fast bowlers who along with India are known to have a weak link and this could just be the factor that can see Pakistan triumph and get their third Asian cup title.
