Islamabad, 9 May, 2025: Real Betis has secured a place in their first major European final, overcoming Fiorentina 4-3 on aggregate after a thrilling extra-time victory.

The Spanish side had entered the second leg in Italy with a 2-1 advantage, but a dramatic match saw them come from behind to seal the win.

The pivotal moment came in the 115th minute, when Abde Ezzalzouli latched onto a pinpoint cross from Antony.

The winger, who had been instrumental throughout the match, made no mistake as he rifled the ball past Fiorentina’s goalkeeper, David de Gea, sending Betis into celebration.

Earlier, Antony had given Betis a crucial lead with a stunning free kick after 30 minutes, bending the ball into the top corner from outside the box.

However, Fiorentina responded strongly, with Robin Gosens’ brace just before halftime leveling the aggregate score.

Gosens first glanced a header into the far corner, and then powered another header past Fran Vieites, putting Fiorentina back in contention.

Despite their renewed hope, the hosts couldn’t maintain the momentum and fell short in extra time. Betis nearly extended their advantage when Isco fired wide from a promising position, but their 2-2 draw on the night was enough to send them through.

Fiorentina, who had been aiming for their third Conference League final appearance, pushed hard in the final stages, but Betis’ defense held firm, and they managed to hold on for the crucial win.

Betis will now face Chelsea in the final at Stadion Wrocław on Wednesday, 28 May, after Enzo Maresca’s side defeated Djurgarden 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, winning 5-1 on aggregate.
