Islamabad, April: In a landmark development poised to transform the global crypto ecosystem, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) — the visionary founder of Binance and one of the most influential pioneers in Web3 — has been officially appointed as Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC).
The announcement was made today following CZ’s high-level meeting with the Pakistan Crypto Council.
The meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and the Federal Secretaries for Law and Information Technology.
During his visit, CZ also held separate discussions with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, underscoring the strategic significance of this collaboration.
“This is a landmark moment for Pakistan,” said Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Finance Minister and Chairman of the PCC.
“We are sending a clear message to the world: Pakistan is open for innovation. With CZ onboard, we are accelerating our vision to make Pakistan a regional powerhouse for Web3, digital finance, and blockchain-driven growth.”
“Pakistan is opening its doors to the future of finance,” added Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council.
“And who better to guide us than CZ — a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and transformed how billions perceive financial freedom.”
As Strategic Advisor, CZ will provide expert counsel on regulation, digital infrastructure, education, and mainstream adoption.
He will work closely with both government and private sector stakeholders to foster a compliant, inclusive, and globally competitive crypto ecosystem in Pakistan.
“Pakistan is a country of 240 million people — over 60% of whom are under 30. The potential here is limitless,” CZ said during the announcement.
“I’m excited to contribute to building a future-ready digital economy in Pakistan.”
The Pakistan Crypto Council, operating under the Finance Division, is leading the country’s digital transformation efforts.
With CZ’s appointment, Pakistan signals its intent to join the ranks of Web3-forward nations such as Singapore, Dubai, and Switzerland, embracing innovation as a catalyst for economic growth and financial inclusion.
