Islamabad, Mar 11 2025: Michael Bracewell is set to captain New Zealand for the first time on home soil as the Black Caps take on Pakistan in a five-match T20I series.
The white-ball squad, announced on Tuesday, is missing several key players due to the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments.
According to the details, Regular captain Mitchell Santner, along with Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, and Glenn Phillips, will be unavailable for the series .
Former captain Kane Williamson has also opted out of the white-ball series against Pakistan, which begins in Christchurch on Sunday.
Bracewell, who previously led New Zealand in white-ball matches during their Pakistan tour, expressed his excitement, stating that captaining the national side is a great honor.
He acknowledged Santner’s leadership and aimed to build on his work while fostering a positive team environment.
Pakistan, known for its explosive power and pace, is expected to pose a tough challenge, especially after an early Champions Trophy exit.
Meanwhile, spinner Ish Sodhi has been recalled, and fast bowler Ben Sears has returned from injury.
