Islamabad, July 7, 2025: BRICS leaders during a summit on Sunday criticized US President Donald Trump’s “indiscriminate” import duties. The group of 11 developing nations — including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — represents nearly half of the global population and around 40 percent of the world’s total economic production.
Though the bloc is often divided on several matters, they stood united regarding the unpredictable US president and his ongoing tariff disputes.
Expressing “serious concerns about the rise of unilateral tariff” actions, BRICS nations stated that such duties could damage the worldwide economy, according to a combined declaration from the summit.
Trump swiftly responded to the bloc on social media on Sunday night.
