Islamabad, 13 May, 2025: Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee are set to rejoin the Gujarat Titans squad on May 14, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025’s resumption on May 17.
Both players were temporarily away from India after the IPL was suspended on May 9, following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
While Buttler and Coetzee left the country, the remaining overseas players in the GT squad, including Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Sherfane Rutherford, and Karim Janat, stayed in India.
Rutherford, however, has been named in the West Indies’ ODI squad for their series against England, set to run from May 29 to June 3, which will overlap with the IPL playoffs.

Although England’s squad for the series is yet to be confirmed, Buttler is expected to be considered for selection.
In a related development, Australian players Pat Cummins and Travis Head are also preparing to rejoin the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad.
Both players left India following the temporary suspension but are now expected to return as the league resumes.
Although SRH has been eliminated from playoff contention, Cummins, the SRH captain, is likely to return to lead the team.
Head’s participation will depend on Australia’s selection plans for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa at Lord’s in June.

Cummins’ manager, Neil Maxwell, confirmed that the Australian captain is looking to rejoin SRH, despite their difficult season.
Cricket Australia’s Ben Oliver acknowledged the challenging nature of the situation, stating that they would work with the players on their return decisions.
SRH has faced struggles this season, sitting eighth on the points table with just three wins from 11 matches.
Their remaining fixtures will be held away from home, against Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
