Lahore, April 17: Chinese EV powerhouse BYD is set to disrupt Pakistan’s pickup truck segment with the introduction of its Shark 6 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) likely to become Pakistan’s first-ever hybrid pickup truck.

Unveiled at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAS) 2024, the Shark 6 is already drawing attention as a futuristic alternative to fuel-hungry diesel pickups like the Toyota Hilux Revo, ISUZU D-Max, and JAC T9 Hunter.

Powered by a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual electric motors, the BYD Shark 6 delivers a combined 321kW of power and a muscular 650Nm of torque. Its quick 0–100 km/h time of just 5.7 seconds, along with an electric-only range of 85 km and a total driving range of up to 800 km, offers a rare mix of speed, endurance, and fuel economy.

Shark 6 Price in Pakistan

While BYD has yet to officially reveal the Shark 6’s price for the Pakistani market, its international pricing ranges between $25,000 to $38,000 — approximately PKR 7 million to 11 million, depending on features and trim levels.

Given the current duty structures and the vehicle’s advanced hybrid technology, local pricing is expected to be slightly higher. However, BYD’s aggressive global pricing strategy and the growing interest in environmentally friendly vehicles could position the Shark 6 as a value-packed alternative to conventional diesel pickups.

The official pricing and booking details are anticipated to be announced in the latter half of 2025.

With skyrocketing fuel prices, tightening environmental regulations, and rising demand for sustainable mobility, the BYD Shark 6 could be a game-changer for Pakistan’s auto market — especially for eco-conscious professionals, fleet owners, and adventure seekers.
