Islamabad, JULY28: A cyber notice about hackers targeting government officials with phishing emails and WhatsApp has been released by the Cabinet Division.The cabinet division claimed in a statement that government officers are the subject of a targeted APT attack that was conducted via phishing emails and several WhatsApp numbers.
In an attempt to use malware to conduct a cyberattack, the attacker is sending different messages using many cellphone numbers and emails with fictitious domains. To get access to the devices, the attacker sends Remote Access Tools (RAT) files in RAR format.
The following WhatsApp numbers are in use:
923176723167, 03357837013, 03557877912, 03552217450, 0355787912, 03553825375, 03557946757, 03115700308, 03552666591 are all the same.
The notification further said, “To protect their data, all departments may kindly instruct their officers & staff not to download any files received from the aforementioned WhatsApp numbers or any unknown numbers/emails.”
