Islamabad, July 9, 2025: Immigrating to Canada just got more expensive. As of July 7, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the settlement fund requirements for applicants under the Express Entry system, particularly those applying through the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
New Settlement Fund Requirements
Applicants must now show approximately $500 more in savings than before. For example, a single applicant must demonstrate $15,263 in available funds, up from $14,690. A family of four must now prove they have at least $28,362.
| Family Size | Required Funds (2025) | Previous Funds |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $15,263 | $14,690 |
| 2 | $19,001 | $18,288 |
| 3 | $23,360 | $22,483 |
| 4 | $28,362 | $27,297 |
| 5 | $32,168 | $30,690 |
| 6 | $36,280 | $34,917 |
| 7 | $40,392 | $38,875 |
| Each Add’l | $4,112 | $3,958 |
Who Needs to Update Proof of Funds?
Only candidates under FSWP and FSTP must meet the new financial threshold. Those applying through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or with a valid job offer and work permit in Canada are exempt, but still need to upload a letter of explanation.
Applicants must update their Express Entry profile with the new proof of funds by July 28, 2025, to remain eligible.
Proof of Funds: What’s Acceptable?
Valid documents must:

- Include contact info, account numbers, and balances
- Show 6-month average and list any debts
