ISLAMABAD, May 28, 2025: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman, Islamabad Chief Commissioner, and Civil Defence Director General Muhammad Ali Randhwa paid a visit to CDA Nursery. Member Environment, Member Administration, Member Engineering, and Member Finance CDA accompanied him during the visit to the CDA Nursery located on Park Road.

On this occasion, Chairman CDA has a detailed review of the updated construction work in order to upgrade, rehabilitate, and transform the CDA Nursery into the ‘Gardenia Hub’.

CDA Chairman said that the primary objective of upgrading the CDA Nursery is to establish Islamabad as a significant hub in the horticulture sector. He directed that the construction of modern and beautiful flower shops be completed swiftly. This will not only enhance the city’s beauty but also create an attractive recreational spot for citizens. Chairman CDA instructed that unique, state-of-the-art controlled ventilated greenhouse be constructed within the nursery. These will provide an ideal environment for plant growth and also support research and development.

CDA Chairman Randhawa also directed the establishment of a Tissue Culture Laboratory at the site. This facility will enable the propagation of new plant varieties using advanced techniques. He said that a dedicated space should be allocated within the nursery for displaying a variety of colorful flowers, where beautiful seasonal and off-season species can be showcased for the public. He added that the project’s comprehensive design reflects CDA’s commitment to improving green spaces in Islamabad and promoting a culture of environmental sustainability.

The chairman also said that developing the nursery as the ‘Gardenia Hub’ is a crucial step towards making Islamabad an even more beautiful and lush green capital. He directed that all available resources be utilized to transform the CDA Model Nursery into a state-of-the-art facility meeting international standards. He emphasized that this project will not only enhance the city’s aesthetics but will also create new employment opportunities in the horticulture sector.

He instructed the concerned officers to develop a comprehensive timeframe for the project’s completion and ensure its implementation. He said that the project’s success will significantly improve the horticulture sector not only in Islamabad and Pakistan but also in the region.

CDA Chairman Randhawa directed that the latest technology be employed in the nursery’s development work and that it be carried out keeping international standards.

On this occasion, the chairman also stated that this project is a vital part of CDA’s efforts to provide citizens with a clean and green environment. He reiterated CDA’s commitment to continue all its efforts to make Islamabad a modern, beautiful, and environmentally friendly model city. He said the ‘Gardenia Hub’ project will enhance the beauty of Islamabad.
